US Forest Service Campgrounds

Beaver-Sulphur:

Season of Use: May 28 - November 15
Number of Sites: 6 tent sites, 4 trailor / 5th W/ wheel sites
Fee: $50.00 a night. Entire campground must be rented. Make group reservations at Applegate
Ranger District. 7 day advanced notice.
Setting: Activities and point of interest include hunting and gold panning (by permit, available at the Ranger Station)
Of Interest: Nearby hiking opportunities - Charlie Buck Trial (#918), Mule Mtn Trail (#919), Little Grayback Mtn Trail (#921)
Special: Group gathering such as reunions or hunting parties

Carberry

Season of use: No services in the winter
Number of sites: 10 tent sites
Fee: $8/$4 additional vehicle
Setting:The tent sites vary in size, with the smaller, more intimate sites found ajacent to Cougar Creek. A day use accessible picnic site is locted near the parking lot. Lake access is found across County Road 777 from the campground with the trail that leads to Carberry Creek ( when the lake is full pool , the trail ends at the lake.

Copper Boat Ramp

Season of use: Ramp is closed during winters
Number of sites: 0
Fee: None
Setting:Primative boat launching facilities. The boat ramp consists of a paved roadbed leading into the lake,the pavement turnes to dirt as the reservior recedes.

French Gulch Boat Ramp

Season of use: Fall and Winter
Number of sites: 2 Trailor Sites
Fee: None
Setting:Graveled roadbed that drops into the French Gulch Arm of Applegate Lake and provides low water access for fall and winter use of the lake. Roadway/boat ramp follows the receding lake level, providing the only boating accesses when the water dips below 1,928 feet elevation.

French Gulch Trail Head

Season of use: Reduced services in the winter

Setting:A parking area that provides access to the popular Applegate Lake trail system.

Harr Point Campground

Season of use:Full Service Season is May 28-September 30. The site remains open with reduced maintenance from November through mid May.
Number of sites: 5 tent sites
Fee:None
Setting: Campground is on the east shore of the Applegate Lake and is accesible only by the Payette Trail or by boat. Persons accessing this site by boat may find current information about the lake levels helpful. This is a semi primative site with no drinking water or garbage service.

Hart-tish Boat Ramp and Campground

Season of use:Closed in fall and winter
Number of sites: 3 tent, 7 Trailor / 5th Wheel Sites , 3 Picnic Sites
Fee:Camping- $10.00 for First Vehicle /$5.00 for Extra Vehicle, Day Use- $5.00
Setting:Hart-ish is a well developed and popular recreation site with an extensive day use area, a boat ramp, and a small campground. The camping area has 5 walk-in tent sites and a parking area for self contained RV's. Hart-ish park is one of the few Forest Service parks with  several acres of beautifully groomed lawn sloping down to the waters edge. From Hart-ish one can look south across the lake to the peaks of the majestic Red Butte Wilderness. The boat ramp is usable until the lake drops below 1,928 feet (above sea level) or when the facility is closed for winter.

Hart-tish Day Use Area

Season of use:Closed during fall and winter
Number of sites: 20 picnic tables
Fee: $5.00
Setting: Hart-tish is a well developed and popular recreation site with an extensive day use area, and an ajacent boat ramp with a small campground. Hart-tish park is one of the few Forest Service parks with several acres of beautifully groomed lawn sloping down to the waters edge. From Hart-tish one can look south across the lakes to the peaks of the majestic Red Butte Wilderness. Many picnic sites are available in shaded areas close to the beach.

Jackson Campground

Season of use:April 30 to September 30. The campground is open October 1 to April 29 at a reduced fee.

Setting:The campground is located along the Applegate River.

McKee Bridge Day Use Area

Season of use:Year round with garbage service and water May 28 - October 31.

Fee:$50.00/Day for groups
Setting:The site remains open year round, but from November through mid-May there is no drinking water or garbage service. Please remember to pack your drinking water in and your garbage out.
Of Interest:Nearby hiking opportunities-Mule Mtn. Trail (#919), Mule Creek Trail (#920), Charlie Buck / Baldy Trail (#918).

Seattle Bar Day Use Area

Season of use: Reduced service in fall, winter and early spring.
Number of site:5 picnic sites
Fee: $5.00
Setting: Seattle Bar is primarliy a trail head and horse staging area for the near by Applegate Lake trail system and the Stein Butte / Elliot Creek OHV trail system. Easy access to Applegate Lake activites and ample picnic opportunities are also avialable
Of Interest: Nearby hiking opportunities Applegate Lake trail system including the Payette Trail (#970), The Stein Butte (#929) and Elliot Creek Ridge trails (#928) both trails are part of the OHV system and are also good hiking trails.
Special: Hiking , Horseback riding, Mountain biking, OHV access, picnicing,swimming and fishing.

Squaw Lakes

Season of use: May 28 - September 30. The campground remains open November through mid-May with no fee charged, however there is no drinking water or garbage service during htis time. Please remember to pack your drinking water in and pack your garbage out.
Number of sites: 10 picnic sites, 17 tent sites and 1 wheelchair assessible site.
Fee: $20.00 for group, $10.00 for single and $5.00 for day use.
Settings:A unique camping expericence, these beautiful mountain lakes offer a more secluded enviornment with no vehicular access. All the campsites must be accessed by a path from a distant parking area. Distance to campsites range from 150 feet to 1 mile.
Of Interest: Nearby hiking opportunities, Little Squaw Lake trail (# 923),Little Grayback Mountain trail (#921),Summit Lake Trail (#926 part of Elliot Creek Ridge OHV trail system).

Swayne Viewpoint

Season of use:Reduced season in off-season (late fall, winter and early-spring)
Number of sites: 1-2 picnic sites
Fee: None
Setting: This viewpoint gives folks a grand view of the Applegate Dam and Intake Tower, the northeast portion of the lake and surrounding lakes including: The Red Buttes, Kangaroo Mountain and Cook and Green Butte to the south,Stein Butte and Elliot Creek Ridge to the southeast,Little Greyback Mountain to the east, and Woodrat Mountain to the north.

Tipsu Tyee Campground

Watkins

Season of use:April 30 through September 30.The site is open during the off season with no fee required but there will be no garbage service. Please remember to pack in your drinking water and pack out your garbage.

Fee:$8.00 for first vehicle, $4.00 for extra, no fee off-season (no service)
Setting:The campground is located on the Applegate Lake.

Wrangler

Setting:There are several picnic tables and a rustic shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936,and a cabin built by the Soil Conservation, also in the 1930's. There is a community kitchen available.Opening dates may vary due to weather.
